Rivers and Hills
For several years, I’ve been a BSA Scout Master and have found great joy in dragging kids out into the wild and setting them free, despite the obvious challenges of coordinating, corralling, and convincing them that the payoff of abandoning their devices and indoor comforts will be greater than they can fully appreciate at this young age.
We camp and hike, take trips, kayak, and do all manner of scrambling up rocks and back down rocks and cooking on the campfire, and setting up tents in wise places. We earn merit badges and honors and impressive accolades for constantly growing our list of skills and knowledge. We’ve even gotten to go sailing in the Bahamas twice and dominated the notoriously difficult mountain at Philmont, where we return next summer to do it again, armed with a little more wisdom and a lot less stomach illness, hopefully.
As the spring and summer rush in, my calendar is filling up with these epic adventures. That means that there will probably be about one weekend per month that I will ask customers to accept deliveries on a Friday or a Sunday, instead of Saturday, as usual.
As always, I so appreciate all of your support and encouragement! It has been so great to get to know so many more of our neighbors.
